So, I have gotten a job offer. Its as a design publisher, and for an entry level job it’s really good. I just…I don’t know if I really want it. I don’t know what I want right now, but it’s better to get some job right? At least I wouldn’t be a barista somewhere, I would be using my skills. But what I want to do is film, and this is not film. I just don’t know, help!
It is real-world job experience in an art oriented field. That could parlay well in a resumé to a film studio ;) certainly more so than barista would!
I say, if you want to do something like film, where work may be cyclical and there might be huge gaps between jobs, you will probably need another, more stable, job to keep you afloat. If that job was something in a relatively artsy field (design knowledge would rule for something as visual as film) than that is just gravy.
My vote, go for it. Getting a stable, regular gig in a field that doesn’t make you hate yourself for doing it is always a hugely lucky thing. And in this case, it might further your future job prospects in film down the line.
I was about to write something mean. But then I remembered how awesome this is.
Plus, that kid looks AWESOME.
